Many know counselling as a 'talking therapy', but this does not capture its broader reality and impact. It provides a safe, nourishing space which enhances your inner strengths. It is a uniquely confidential time with a committed other, and so offers different support to that which we may receive from friends. I aim to understand your hopes and points of reference.
It is known that the working relationship between counsellor and client is a powerful tool for change. This connection supports greater understanding of patterns in your life, how they may have arisen and your present experiences. This in turn strengthens your flexibility to respond to today's and tomorrow's events. It offers a chance to live more choicefully, in the ways you hope for.
Change can occur at many levels, and happens both quickly and more slowly. Entering into the therapeutic journey is the first commitment to yourself, and a sign of hope. I will support you to manage this change, understand what is happening and to safely move through your journey.
I believe this is the most effective way to begin your future.
The work can employ talking, the arts and imagery. It deepens the connection between your thoughts, feelings and your body. It strengthens reflective skills as perceptions of the past, present and future, and of others in our lives, are considered. This journey will offer you a chance to reconsider the horizons you are used to, as well as horizons which await you.
